The Facial Paralysis & Bell's Palsy Foundation
The Facial Paralysis & Bell’s Palsy Foundation recently had a well-recieved support group meeting in Los Angeles, and there will be more in the future! The powerful meeting was open to the public, and focused on persons dealing with facial paralysis and their families. During the meeting, Dr. Azizzadeh discussed current treatment options for facial paralysis, and answered several questions from the audience. Many of the attendants also used the time to share their stories and network.
Mary Jo Buttafuoco, a New York Times bestselling author and motivational speaker, also spoke at the meeting. She is a well-known patient of Dr. Azizzadeh and a true inspiration for many facial paralysis patients. Buttafuoco, who survived a shooting several years ago, turned to the Oprah Winfrey Show, and in turn Dr. Azizzadeh, for reconstructive surgery.
The Facial Paralysis & Bell's Palsy Foundation was founded in 2008 by Dr. Babak Azizzadeh, with the desire to provide a network of information, education and support to persons of all ages who are suffering from Bell's Palsy and permanent facial paralysis. The foundation is dedicated to supporting ongoing research within the medical community to find and advance new and improved treatments for facial paralysis. The people behind the foundation also seek to educate medical professionals on the latest developments within the facial paralysis community.
The Facial Paralysis and Bell's Palsy Foundation is currently in the process of setting up regional support groups for those dealing with the physical, emotional and social effects of Bell's palsy and long-term facial paralysis. If you are interested in being either a leader or a participant, the foundation will provide you with the information, resources and ongoing support necessary to start and maintain a support group in your regional area.
Please feel free to contact the foundation if you or a loved one is dealing with facial paralysis issues, or if you would like to be a part of a support group. You can email the foundation email@example.com, or call Dr. Azizzadeh at (310) 657-2203.
